This program will address the ethical considerations surrounding joint representations, including: the importance of properly identifying the client(s), the duty to communicate about the implications of the joint representation (RPC 1.2, 1.4), the circumstances under which conflicts of interest could arise and the appropriate way to address such conflicts (RPC 1.7), confidentiality amongst jointly represented clients (RPC 1.6), and specific scenarios in which joint representation might be prohibited or inadvisable (RPC 1.7, 1.8).
