This presentation will cover how to navigate the risks and effectively use Generative Artificial Intelligence ("GenAI") in legal practice. Attendees will learn the following:

* Recent developments in the field of GenAI relevant to the tools to be reviewed today;

* Risks associated with using GenAI in legal practice, including waiver of privilege, hallucination, bias, risks to other professional duties, and broader risks to the profession (see below);

  • * Short-term applications of GenAI for legal practice generally;
* Litigation-specific applications and GenAI tools;

* Applications of GenAI in specific legal practice areas, including employment, intellectual property, real estate, family & probate law, and criminal law; and

* An overview of medium and longer-term impacts of AI on legal practice and business.

NOTE: Rules of Professional Conduct that will be addressed include: Rule 1.1, 1.3, 1.6, 3.3(a)(1), 5.1 and 8.4.
